I dunno, I’m worried it’s gonna get the obscene front end treatment that every other Toyota is. I mean it already has too much fake grille, but it’s restrained compared to the others

NO
![]() 11/19/2016 at 13:35 |

The accord looks really nice specially in red. Too bad they are everywhere and here in NYC is becoming the go to car for cab drivers.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 13:40 |

That car is so much sexier than the Honda. It isn’t even debatable.
It might even be sexier than the Mondeo.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 13:42 |
|
That was a very nice design. I don’t like all the chrome on the new ones (or even this one, but at least it is restrained). The plastic chrome thing has probably been coming back with such a vengeance because manufacturers are trying to find a way, any way, to make their cars stand out. The problem is that it feels so old and looks hideous on modern car designs.

And pretty much all crossovers look better than the new CX-5, along with all hatches looking better than the 3. But there is still some weird fascination here with them. They’ve even came out and said that they don’t give a shit about enthusiasts, they are after economy.

The worst selling year of the third gen TL (2008) sold 46,766 units.
The best selling year of the fourth gen TL (2010) sold 34,049 units.
What design success?
![]() 11/19/2016 at 14:43 |
|
The fact that people talk about its design more than, say, a 2008 Camry. That’s success in design. Doesn’t matter what people think of it, as long as it makes people feel differently.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 14:45 |

Can we respectfully agree that the Accord is a fine looking car?
We don’t even get the euro accord anymore in the UK. We only have the NSX, Jazz (fit), Civic, Civic wagon, CR-V and HR-V.

People talk about the Aztek’s design all the time. Does that mean it’s one of the most successfully designed mainstream cars of the 21st century?
![]() 11/19/2016 at 14:54 |
|
They make over 200k cars every year here but export about 80%. Honda just isn’t that popular here.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 14:55 |

Shame.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 15:02 |

I honestly don’t hear many people talking about the Aztek design, but whenever Acura is mentioned on the FP, the beak comes up.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 15:17 |
|
The thing about the 6 is, while it looks good, they completely compromised any sort of interior space in the guise of “design”. I’d much rather have a back seat you can actually get into if you are taller than Napoleon, than some swoopy lines and a low slung car.
And besides, you’re right. The Kodo design language isn’t all that fantastic anyways. The only reason people really like it is because the FP keeps constantly shilling for fucking Mazda.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 15:18 |
|
The fucking Honda Fit is more spacious inside than a Mazda Three.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 16:39 |

I’ve always looked at a newly designed Accord and not liked it so much, then later I think it’s pretty damn good looking.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 16:41 |
|
It does look very good. But it still doesn’t look better than the Mazda6.
I’d say it’s better looking than the Fusion Sport though.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 19:29 |
|
Mmmm... I liked the previous gen Accord Sport a lot, (maybe even better than the Mazda 6,) but for me this new Honda is a touch busy and the wheels kinda bug me. But I respect your opinion - diversity is the spice of life.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 23:21 |
|
It’s undoubtedly prettier than the Mondeo/Fusion. The 6 is much better proportioned.
![]() 11/19/2016 at 23:25 |

I’m no fan of the current Camry, but the Accord is hot garbage. The next Camry looks like it will be a genuinely attractive car.
![]() 11/20/2016 at 00:10 |

I agree with you about the previous CX-5, but have you seen the new one? Absolutely fabulous.
And the 3 is sexy. No one can tell me otherwise.

Oh, HondaBro. You card you.
![]() 11/20/2016 at 09:19 |
|
That’s the one I’m talking about, the old one looks fine. It’s awful. That is duckface in car form. And wtf is going on below the grill? It’s worse than the worse of the predator grill. And the 3 hatch looks like a dog taking a shit.

![]() 11/21/2016 at 02:22 |

Agreed.
![]() 11/21/2016 at 03:02 |

I’m going to put forth a counter-point for that space compromise: I love the look of the 6, both current and past. I love seeing them on the roads. Given that most people only put kids in the back - kids who are small and agile and unlikely to compare interior space with other vehicles in the segment - I reckon awesome design does more for Mazda’s brand than a spacious rear does.
![]() 11/21/2016 at 04:32 |

The Mazda looks better to me.
I am 5'8". My future kids will be destined to a mediocre height, unless I find a giant to marry me and offset my genes.
We don’t have much going for us. But us shorties enjoy coupes, roadsters and the Mazda 6 (while still barely squeezing in to airplane economy seats). :D
